THE ROLE OF CIVIL SOCIETY IN THE PROTECTION OF HUMAN RIGHTS

The article examines the role of civil society in the protection of human rights, revealing its importance as an additional mechanism for monitoring the observance of citizens' rights and freedoms. The authors analyze the concept of civil society, its functions and mechanisms of influence on government and society. Special attention is paid to the role of non-governmental organizations, activists and journalists in identifying and documenting human rights violations. The article also examines the interaction of civil society with international organizations and mechanisms for the protection of human rights. In conclusion, it is emphasized that active citizenship and civil society in general play a key role in protecting human rights and strengthening democracy.
