Mechanisms For Adapting Alexander Neill’s “Summerhill” Pedagogical Experience To The Personal Development Of English Philology Students

The article examines mechanisms for adapting A. S. Neill’s Summerhill experience to the personal development of English philology students. Summerhill principles of freedom, responsibility, democratic participation and emotional security are reinterpreted through learner autonomy rather than directly transferred to higher education. Bounded academic choice, learning contracts, reflective portfolios, peer feedback, democratic seminars and dialogic assessment are proposed as key adaptation mechanisms supporting both personal agency and professional competence.
